German Team
I feel germany should have sent a better in such kind of tournaments. Most of the European tems are always hesitate to play in subcontinent. They must change thier behavior toward asia.

This german team is even weaker than in amstelveen last year. Thanks to the withdraw of Australia they havn't got five clashes. Congrats to the kiwis for their first point.

Objective Oriented
They have lost 4 top players because of retirement, while the rest of the Bronze medallists have taken their time off for their work and studies (sacrificed for Athens preparation) Nothing to do with Europeans' attitude to Asia. (I guess no one would miss a chance to play CT in Lahore)

Germany have already qualified to the WC as host. This must be their objective now, to put on a good showing on home soil. They have nothing to lose in sending their Development Squad for high level exposure. A chance to increase the depth of experienced players.

Germany on right track
I disagree with javed mushtaq about "european" teams not wanting to play in the subcontinent. I am extremely good friends with a number of the kookaburras and they were extremely disappointed about the Hockey Federations decision ofnot going to this year's CT. I realise we are not "european" as you put it, but I would imagine the players from the "european" teams would be just as excited about visiting such interesting countries and cultures and most importantly playing infront of thousands and fanatical hockey fans. In Australia we struggle to get 500 people to international matches!!!

I also think this year's CT is a wonderful opportunity to take development teams and give the less experienced players an opportunity to impress for the future. To be honest the OLYMPICS was the most important tournament of the year, all teams prepared their last 2-3 year schedule to peak in August not now. If Australia was to take a team to the CT it would have been taking the players that missed selection for the Olympics and a bunch of young fellas as the Olympic team members were still drinking, celebrating, holidaying and playing abroad. Considering next year's most important tournament is the JWC I think the CT could be used to put some of the worlds best young players up against international competition.
