INTERNATIONAL UMPIRE Kukoo Walia, who is also Vice-Chairman of Indian Hockey Federation's Umpires Committee, has been suspended by the Delhi Hockey Association, for 'non-payment of capitation fees after organising a tournament.

DHA President Inder Mohan Mahajan said today that he took this action as Walia, who organised the Ayur Hockey Tournament here in February last year, had not paid the capitation fees despite several reminders.

"We had been asking Walia to pay up the fees but he did not respond. Then we were told by IHF that it would pay the amount. But it did not and also failed to respond to our letters. "I then issued a show cause notice to Walia and when he did not reply to it either, using the powers vested in me by the DHA's constitution, I suspended him."
