Neither Loughborough Students nor Olton Ladies defend their titles at the indoor season pipe-opener, the Coaching Solutions tournament which starts at three West Midland centres today. Indoor champions Loughborough are at an indoor tournament in Vienna, while Olton are at the Three Kings event in Barcelona.
Reading, newcomers to the premier English indoor League, and Bowdon Hightown may be the best hopes of holding off the Scottish challenge in the Midlands.
In Barcelona, Olton Ladies and Surbiton both had victories over Pedrables. Olton won 4-0 again with another brace for Charlotte Cornwallis. Surbiton were 4-2 winners with goals by Matt Daly (2), John Grice and Jamie Ruiz but now lose their three England players who off to South Africa.
Cannock, not optimistic of achieving a third successive Three Kings title with their weakened team, surprised hosts Polo Barcelona by holding them to a 2-2 draw with goals. Simon Organ and guest Nick Thompson scored.

I'm surprised the Scottish umpire didn't wear Glasgow Westerns shirts to umpire in. I'm sure she could only signal one way -in Glasgows' favour!!!
Hightown were the better side and deserved the win, it's just unfortunate Glasgow had 7 players on the pitch.....

get over it
Spectator: what nonsense.
How easy it is to just whinge about the umpire.
Admittedly there was a great deal of inconsistency with both umpires for and against both teams with regards to the lifted ball rule, but it was the english umpire who gave the 'dubious' penalty corner decision which led to Glasgow's winning goal after what seemed like a fair tackle.
Hightown were probably the better team but simply didnt do the required to win. It was a low quality final, demonstrating our inability with basic skills and the arrogance of 'top' outdoor players who think they can rule the roost indoor by bullying umpires.
