Scotland’s women will head for South Africa next week under new coach Lesley Hobley.

First up on the two-week tour, the Scots will face their hosts’ under-21 side in an opener, to be followed by four test matches against the full Springbok squad.

This is only part of a build-up programme for the forthcoming European Cup next summer in Dublin, where the initial opposition will be Spain, Germany and hosts Ireland.

With the retirement of Olympian Rhona Simpson, among others, it’s a chance for members of the highly successful under-21 squad to stake a claim for a place in the final team for Dublin.
