The cast for the six-nation International Junior Invitational hockey tournament to be held at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil from march 26-April 3 has been confirmed with positive replies received from India and England.
The two will join Malaysia, Germany, New Zealand and South Korea in the tournament, which is seen as part of preparation for the Junior World Cup preparation, which will be held in June in Holland.
Malaysia, however, are not assured of a place in the Finals. They failed to finish among the top three in the Asian qualifiers in Karachi earlier this year, settling for fourth place.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) will decide in February whether to give Asia a fourth place in the Finals.
The Kiwis are also a doubtful case as they recently lost in the Oceania qualifying tournament to Australia.
Meanwhile the MHF will hold their second council meeting on Jan 15. The sub-committees have all slated their meetings for Jan 8 and 9.
The various sub-committees will hold their meetings the week before so any suggestions and recommendations can be tabled at the council meeting, said Paramalingam.
