Julian Stevenson took a brief trip down memory lane on Monday when he watched his former Lisnagarvey team mates lose to Instonians in the Kirk Cup final.
He'll be hoping that his new charges at Armagh can go one better when they face PSNI in Saturday's Powerade Linden Cup decider at Mossley (2.30pm).
Stevenson played in a host of Kirk Cup finals but a quiet New Year's Eve is a rarity for the former Ireland star.
"Yes, I'll be on my best behaviour like it used to be on Christmas night before a Kirk Cup final," he smiled.
"It was actually nice being on the other side of the fence so to speak and to be able to enjoy the game without the pressure, though I was obviously sorry Garvey lost.
"But I'm really looking forward to the game with the police, as are the players."
Stevenson is, of course, player-coach at Armagh and he's doing pretty nicely so far, thank you!
His team are unbeaten and are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Senior Two table.
"The boys have a great attitude and work extremely hard both in matches and at training," he added.
"If they can enjoy the final and learn from it then we'll have achieved something.
"But as a Senior One side, the police will obviously start as favourites but as underdogs there'll be no pressure on us."
