The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is so impressed with the idea of the Premier Hockey League mooted by its Indian counterpart that it has not only allowed eight of its players to play in the tournament but is also planning a similar competition in the country from 2006.

The Olympians Ahmad Alam, Zeeshan Asrhaf, Muhammad Saqlain, Muhammad Sawar, Ali Raza, Dilawar Hussain, Kashif Jawwad and Mudassar Ali Khan will be taking part in the league starting in Hyderabad from January 13.

`excellent step This is a great Idea and something I am sure will contribute immensely to revival of Asian Hockey. It needs to spread to pakistan and even Korea, Malaysia and other Asian countries. If Asia hopes to challengs the dominance of Europen hockey this seems like the way forward.`

Something Special It is really pleasant to see the cricket great Tendulker promoting this league on tv. Bringing glamour to the game is a good idea to make it popular among the masses. Until such events are not promoted and the nations are not familiar with their heroes, the game could not reach the public. The way money is spent on the game in India is really good for the game in the country. As a Pakistani, I congratulate them on having such an event, and definately support the idea of having similar events across the region.
