France defeated India 2-1 in the second Junior (U-21) hockey Test match played at the Gachibowli Hockey Complex here today.

After a barren first half, Moreau Antonine put the visitors ahead in the 50th minute while Gouedard Conte extented the lead seven minutes later.

Nitya Jayanand reduced the margin in the 68th minute but the Frenchmen went on to win the second Test, two days after they thrashed the hosts 5-0 in the first Test.

Improving the game by a few notches, India rose to the occasion and held the French in the first half to return tied goalless at the breather.

The tempo of the game remained the same even in the initial stages of the second half but Anotnine drew first blood for the visitors when he converted the penalty corner with clinical precision.

Conte made most of lead and dribbled past Indian defenders to score a spectacular field goal within six minutes and to swell the lead 2-0.

At a time when the match appeared to be closing, a late resurgence from the Indian camp saw Jayanand breach the French defence to find the net in the dying moments. This was the only goal scored by the Indians in the two-Test series.

France seniors vs India 3rd string U-21 & first string u-16
Relax people. The first string Juniors ( Adrial et al) were involved in he champions trophy. The second string juniors ( Jatinder singh et al ) recently went to australia. This team is a mix of the 3rd string team u-21 and some first string u-16 players( such as raja).

Forget it! It's over desi hockey fans.
Whatever. India is done as far as field hockey is concerned. Pakistan is not far behind. Teams like France will only get better because they have a positive system with no nepotism, and that word, for those Indians here who can't speak english, means favorites;
Indians and Pakistani's play selfish hockey; they all want to be heroes. It is sickening.
I think that they should quit and accept that he Europeans and Australians are here to stay in field hockey.

Today France beat India seniors 3-1. High time KPS Gill is kicked out of Indian Hockey Federation. He has lost his sanity and should be sacked immedately and senior players like Gagan Ajit Singh, Jugraj and Prabhjot singh should ne brought back.

Lost ways
France defeated our national team 3-1 today. couple of days back the Indian Airlines team defeated France 2-1. What kind of signal this sends to the Indian supporters. I am just wondering whats going to happen to the much hyped up Premier Hockey League. I bet you will see empty stands with no crowd to support the teams and after the 1st year PHL is wound up and thrwon in the dust bin.

The report says that Crowd was cheering for every move of France and shouting bad things about KPS Gill. I guess for him (Mr. Kill Bill) it doent matter who says what.

As I said in the past that not even GOD can save Indian Hockey now.

what???
OK, the Indian junior second stringers losing is not so bad, but it shows lack of preparedness. Not taking second string preparation seriously shows lack of planning.

But the SENIOR national team losing is bad even though India didn't play with 5 regular players. This is after all the France's JUNIOR team. This should raise a few eye brows.

Lack of preparedness at the senior level. That is really bad, no excuses against a junior team.

Put things in proper perspective
Yes, this is an embarrasing defeat for India. But lets put things in perspective. This bunch of players have never played as a unit before ..and that's important. You just cant pick up players and ask them to play as a team. Look at Indian airlines, they completely outclassed France because Indian airliness is a well knit team.
Apart from Dilip Tirkey and Halappa , sandeep singh and Xalco, the rest have not played as a unit. This includes new players ( like topno) second string juniors (like nitin kumar and Birendra lakra) or recalled players ( Thakur & Bimal).

IHF should take a serious relook at this meaningless over experimentation. They need to finalise a team and stick to it for some period of time.

I must say I was very surprised to see these results. France seem to have played well though. This doesnt mean India is going down.
