Daily Times, Pakistan

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) renewed its one-year Rs 10 million sponsorship deal with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) during a simple ceremony at Pearl Continental Hotel here on Friday. NBP’s executive vice president Ameem Akhtar and PHF secretary Musarrat Ullah Khan signed the deal. It is pertinent to mention here that the NBP has renewed the 12-month contract for the third successive year. The bank’s name will appear on the shirts of the Pakistan’s players.

Speaking on the occasion, Ameem reiterated the pledge to continue NBP’s association with the national sport of Pakistan.

“We are committed to serve Pakistan and that is why we have renewed the contract to play our due role in further development of hockey.” He said NBP was not only promoting hockey but was also contributing in the development of others sports at various levels.

“We are hiring talented players on attractive contracts due to ban on regular employment. As soon as the ban is lifted they will be offered regular jobs,” he said. “Our association with hockey is growing with the passage of time and we are optimistic to raise the sponsorship in coming years,” he added.

PHF secretary Musarrat praised the efforts of NBP for extending sponsorship and said their meaningful contribution would go a long way in the development of the game.

“NBP is always on our side and we appreciate their gesture. We believe their contribution will be an inspiration for the other business houses to come forward to support the national game,” he said.
