Black Sticks lose 3-nil to China in playoff for fifth and sixth place place at Champions Trophy in Argentina

A dismal end to the Champions Trophy in Argentina for the New Zealand women's hockey team.

The Black Sticks have been beaten 3-nil by China in the playoff for fifth and sixth.

Skipper Di Weavers says they are seriously disappointed with the result, which she says does not reflect their performance.

The result means the kiwis finish last and will have to qualify for the next Champions Trophy.

New Zealand had drawn 1-all with China earlier in the tournament.

The Black Sticks finish the event with two draws and four losses.

The Black Sticks will now play in the Champions Challenge tournament next year for teams ranked 7th to 12th, and if they win that they will qualify for the 2006 Champions Trophy.
