This is very typical of the FIH. Why make an announcement that this course is on 7 weeks out from the event. Surely the FIH are planning ahead and can put a list of courses out at least a couple of years in advance.

Or am i just foolish in my expectations of forward, enlightened planning and thinking from the international hockey governing body?

please tell me i am wrong and the FIH does have plans for courses in the future that could be published today for all to see. Then elite coaches could plan effectively their development. This of course is another core skill of all elite coaches. Maybe the FIH should get more elite coaches involved in administration to make sure things happen better than they currently do................or am i being unrealistic in my expectations
