Renowned????!!!!
Renowned for NOT directing any performance - for manipulating a position where he became England and then GB coach - and then his complete lack of ability and knowledge was found out by the players and they disliked his leadership so much they got him sacked! Now he has managed to get in another cushy position with the FIH - I wonder when people will see through that as well? 30 million pounds spent on England hockey since 1997 and the ladies ranking has gone from top 4 to 11 (just), and the mens has fluctuated between 6 to 10 - renowned performance director - yeah right. I wonder how England and GBs budget spent on hockey compares with the other top nations since 1997? Does anyone know how much the Aussies, Koreans, Germans, Dutch spend? Apparently Germany have 2 full time staff, a mens and a ladies coach - England have a cast of thousands - all wandering around with tracksuits, evaluations forms and computers - but know sweet nothing about systems, tactics and technique.... renowned performance director?!

Performance directors
It is clear that if England and GB are to move forward, they have to get rid of Hamilton. Not that it will happen, of course, because his one skill has been in appointing himself to a job-for-life - and how the boards of World Class Hockey, GB and Sport England have allowed that to happen is an absolute disgrace. Do you think Bill Sweetenham has a job for life or will be unaccountable for how the swimmers perform?
Hamilton's lectures at the coaching course should be on "how to get away with it" and it would surely be a masterclass.

Many bits and pieces
I find it quite amazing that as a particpant of 2 High performance coaching course where FIH officials have promised to deliver various items after the event that i am still waiting for them to deliver. One of those course was in 2002 and the other was 2003. I find the courses are unprofessional and they border on a waste of time. i certainly did receive some value from the courses i went on only to the extent that i was able to discuss hockey issues with other coaches outside of the strutured classroom environment.

it is appalling bias from FIH officials that there is a continual focus on Pakistan Hockey and their development as they are "previous Olympic Gold medal winners" . There are othercountries that are previous gold medal winners as well such as India, Great Brittain, New Zealand, why does the FIH not put a lot of effort in to help them out?

Whle i am have a bit of a complaint session why do people complain that in Oceania Australia only has to beat NZ to qualify for the Olympics. Well last time i checked the Aussie men have not been out of the top 4 in the world for many years, in fact it would be decades. Currently NZ ranked 6 and Australia 1 in the Olympics. Asia has many more teams than Oceania but ther best ranked in 5th at the olympics. So for any team in Asia to qualify they would have to beat the 5th ranked team. This is substantially easier than having to beat the best team in the World to Qualify..........

How about the FIH provide some resources to India, NZ, GB to assist them to be better hockey nations.

By the way it is interesting to note from the Olympics that there are 4 countries where the men and women are both in the top 6 Australia, Holland, Germany and NZ. there are 2 other teams that had both the men and women competing Spain and Sth Africa. so what is that telling us? where does develpment money need to be spent???????????

my last point, i wish people in England/GB would stop complaining about Mike Hamilton. The rest of the world does not care...............................why would we????
