International Hockey Federation

The International Hockey Federation (FIH), the global controlling body of the sport , thru FIH Development and Coaching Committee (DCC) has designed a FIH Olympic Games Coaching Conference scheduled to be held on 26 August, 2004 during the Athens Olympic Games.

Theo Ykema, the Chairman FIH DCC, in this regard has extended an invitation to all FIH affiliated National Associations, their Coaches and FIH Coaches to avail this unique and dream like opportunity to attend such a global coaching summit where bright and shining stars from the galaxy of modern hockey coaching would share their knowledge, expertise and experiences regarding promotion and development of the sport.

To make it a worthwhile, grand and memorable experience, the globally renowned and well respected Top FIH Master Coaches and experts like Roelant Oltmans, Terry Walsh, Maurtis Hendricks, Horst Wein, Tayyab Ikram, Marc Lammers Mike Hamilton and Toon Seipman would be extended invitation to address the conference. All these experts are either medal winners at Olympic Games and world cup tournaments or top coaching experts at international level.

The FIH DCC, for the past few years, with the view to spread the knowledge of modern scientific and clinical coaching, has been striving hard to achieve its goals by arranging continued and ongoing coaching courses, seminars and conferences in every part of the globe, hence an all important occasion like Athens Olympics could not be ignored or missed out.

The participation of some of these experts, however, would depend on their availability as they are associated with Top teams participating in Athens Olympic Games. This conference will also help evaluate and discuss development of hockey and hockey coaching as observed during the Athens Olympic Games and other top events.

Intending candidates have been advised to send their Application forms to FIH office before 5th August by fax or email or After 21st of August 2004, for registration in Athens, Mr. Tayyab Ikram, the FIH Coaching Manager or Mrs. Catherine Tummers, FIH Administration Manager at FIH offices at Hockey venues or at the Fenix Hotel can be contacted. On 25th August 2004, from 14.00 to 17.00, there will be special arrangements for registration at Fenix hotel.
